  10. Viral Protection falls into three basic categories:
  11.  
  12. 1.) Protection- Should a virus try to install itself on your hard drive, a            
  13.      good protection program will stop it. Protection programs are not 
  14.      much good if your hard drive is already infected.
  15. 2.) Detection- These programs simply tell you whether or not you have 
  16.      an infection. They do not protect against a virus, nor do they remove 
  17.      them.
  18. 3.) Eradication- These programs remove a virus once it is found. Some 
  19.      will also repair infected applications and system files to allow them to 
  20.      be used again.
